Camera calibration after a Jacksonville windshield.
When a camera looks out through your windshield, it has to be set again once the new glass is in. We do that in the same visit where the procedure can be done on site.

Why it matters
A camera aimed through new glass
Lane-keep, automatic braking and adaptive cruise rely on a camera mounted high on the windshield. It looks through one small window of glass, and a new windshield shifts that view by a tiny angle. Over the length of the Hart Bridge, a tiny angle is the difference between your lane and the next one, so the camera is set again after every windshield replacement that needs it.
We follow the vehicle maker's procedure for your car. When it calls for equipment or a road drive we cannot do where the car is parked, you hear that before you book, not on the day.
Two methods
Static and dynamic, in plain words
- Static
Parked, with a target
The car sits still on level ground while a printed target is placed in front of it at a set distance, and a scan tool walks the camera through the maker's steps.
- Dynamic
A drive on marked roads
Some makers ask for a drive at set speeds on roads with clear lane lines, so the camera can learn the road on its own.
- Both
Some cars need both
A few procedures run a static step and then a drive. The VIN tells us which applies to yours.
- Check
Confirmed before you go
When the calibration is done, any driver-assist warning should be off, and the technician tells you what was done.
Where it works
What a static calibration needs from the spot
Level ground
A flat driveway or a level lot. A steep slope or a sloped garage ramp is a problem.
Room in front
Clear space ahead of the bumper for the target. Open surface lots on the Southside and in Orange Park suit it well.
Steady light
Strong glare or deep shadow across the target slows things down. A covered deck or an overcast morning is fine.
Dry conditions
Rain on the glass gets in the camera's way, so a storm moving in can mean a new time.
Calibration is included with the windshield replacement when your vehicle needs it.
Calibration questions in Jacksonville
Ask about your car on our Jacksonville line, (904) 900-2264.
How can I tell if my car has a windshield camera?
Look at the glass behind the rearview mirror from outside. A dark housing with a lens, often inside a dotted border on the glass, is the camera. Not sure? Text the VIN to (877) 350-5962 and we check it.
Can I drive home and skip calibration?
We advise against it. A camera that is slightly off can brake or steer at the wrong moment, and a dashboard light may not warn you. We follow the maker's procedure.
Can the calibration be done in my apartment lot?
Often, yes, if the space is level and there is clear room in front of the car. A tight covered spot or a sloped garage can rule out the static method, so tell us where the car will be parked when you book.
What if a warning light comes on after the install?
Call our Jacksonville line, (904) 900-2264. If it comes from our work, our lifetime workmanship warranty covers it for as long as you own the vehicle.
