The area

Northeast Florida's fastest-growing county

St. Johns County had 190,039 residents in 2010 and 273,425 at the 2020 census. The state's 2025 estimate is 348,336, a 27 percent jump in five years, faster than Duval, Clay or Nassau. Most of that growth landed in the north end of the county, in the places on this page.

Nocatee is the clearest example. It was approved in 2001 as a single planned development covering 13,323 acres, broke ground in 2005, and grew from 4,524 residents in 2010 to 22,503 in 2020. By 2025 it held fifty separate neighbourhoods. A slice of the development crosses into Jacksonville, though the Census place sits wholly in St. Johns County.

St Johns is younger as a name than as a place. The area along the river between Jacksonville and St. Augustine was long addressed as Jacksonville; in 2005 residents picked "St. Johns" as the postal name in a vote that also offered Fruit Cove, River Oaks and Bartram. The Census still counts much of it as the Fruit Cove CDP, with 32,143 people in 2020.

Where we come

Four places, four ZIP codes

Ponte Vedra Beach and St Johns are postal names rather than Census places, so the Census areas that hold them are named alongside.

Getting there

Routes south from the county line

  1. SR 9B

A 5.5-mile freeway built in three pieces: I-295 to US 1 in September 2013, on to I-95 in June 2016, and south to St Johns Parkway and Race Track Road by way of Peyton Parkway in August 2018. It is slated to become I-795. For most of St Johns it is the fast way to the beltway.

  2. I-95

The main north-south route through the county, with exits at CR 210 and at International Golf Parkway, the interchange built for World Golf Village.

  3. Nocatee Parkway

The east-west link between US 1, the Intracoastal Waterway and Ponte Vedra.

  4. J. Turner Butler Boulevard and A1A

JTB runs from the Southside to the ocean at the Duval line; A1A follows the coast south through Ponte Vedra Beach.

  5. Race Track Road, CR 210 and SR 13

The older roads across St Johns, now lined with subdivisions and the schools that came with them.

SR 9B and I-95 carry heavy commuter and truck traffic into Jacksonville. If a stone hits on the way, note the road, direction and nearest exit while it is fresh. Our road debris guide explains what to do with that note.

Ponte Vedra

Mining town, then golf resort

Ponte Vedra Beach sits on San Pablo Island, between the Intracoastal Waterway and the ocean, about 18 miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville. It started as Mineral City, where titanium and zircon were mined from the beach sand from 1914. The National Lead Company later turned the land into a resort and renamed it Ponte Vedra after a town on the coast of Spain. The PGA Tour's TPC Sawgrass is here today.

The Intracoastal itself is a man-made cut. In 1908 a canal was dug through the Diego Plains in what is now Palm Valley, joining the San Pablo River to the Tolomato. That is why the Ponte Vedra side reaches the mainland only by bridges.

Salt spray off the ocean leaves a film on glass and on the windshield frame. Wherever the car is parked, the technician cleans the frame before the new windshield goes in. A garage or the side of a building out of the sea breeze is the better spot for the work.

Where we work

Installs on new streets

A lot of homes here are only a few years old. That brings its own small hurdles.

  • New sections may not show up correctly in map apps yet. Include the section or phase name with the address, plus a nearby cross street.
  • Gated communities: include the entry code with your request, and register the visit at the gatehouse if your association runs it that way.
  • Associations here often restrict trucks working at the curb. Pull into the driveway or open the garage and the work stays on your property.
  • Office parks along JTB and US 1 work well if the property allows vendor work in its spaces.
  • Newer cars mean more cameras. If yours has lane-keep or automatic braking, ask about calibration when you book; our ADAS calibration page explains it.

We do not install in the rain. If a summer storm is heading your way, we phone you and set a new slot together.

Nocatee, St Johns and Ponte Vedra questions

Ask us on our Jacksonville line, (904) 900-2264, or by text at (877) 350-5962.

Is Nocatee in Jacksonville or St. Johns County?

Mostly St. Johns County. Nocatee is a planned community whose Census place lies wholly in St. Johns County, though part of the development crosses into Jacksonville. We serve both sides.

My address says Ponte Vedra, but I live west of the Intracoastal. Do you come there?

Yes. The 32081 and 32082 areas are both on our Jacksonville listing, on either side of the waterway. Send the full address so the technician picks the right bridge.

Can you work inside a gated community in St Johns?

In most cases. Pass along the entry code and ask the association whether contractors must be registered ahead. Inside the garage or on the driveway is where the work goes best.

We live on the Ponte Vedra Beach side of the bridges. Does that rule out a same-day visit?

No. The Ponte Vedra side is on our Jacksonville listing, and same-day appointments are available in most areas, depending on the glass your car needs. For the work itself, pick a garage or the side of the house out of the sea breeze. Ask for a time on this site day or night; installs run Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
